Depending on the discoloration, sometimes simply using warm (not hot) water to wash your face and using moisturizer can help.  If you are dealing with redness, avoid hot showers and wear clothing that is a flattering tone.

They have this gentle bleaching soap they use in eygpt, india and far east called "Fair and Lovely", for women who want to look more white, maybe this would be appropriate.
