I would say search the net or go into Boot's and ask at the medicine counter. They should know or be able to order something for you.

I know you can get strips that you wee on and it gives you an indication of the blood sugar levels, but think they may only be on prescription.
There are a number of different Diabetic products on the market including soft touch finger pricking devices, for extracting blood.

If her blood sugar has to be checked, I can't think of any non intrusive way, of how the blood can be extracted. Try contacting the UK Diabetic Association. They have a Careline number, where I you can obtain advice.

i totally agree with velvetee. you could also try googling
diabetes uk which is the biggest diabetes association in the uk and they too have a helpline.
perhaps a different approach to the problem would help. instead of trying (probably unsuccessfully) to find a way of getting a sample without using a needle, try to find a way, maybe with some professional help, of getting your mum used to using the finger prick device. my son was 10 when he was diagnosed (and i know there are children far younger than he was) so believe you me, i know all about dealing with someone scared of needles. he's 27 now and although i'm sure he would rather not have to do it, he doesn't think twice. it is all part of having diabetes unfortunately, and something that just has to be got used to.
the strips you wee on are unfortunately not accurate enough for the purposes of adjusting insulin dose.
best of luck.
