What's he on? I was on lanzoprazole and it did make a difference but got another ulcer so changed to Omeprazole which made a much bigger difference.
Avoid spicy food, anti-inflammatories or fatty foods.
If he keeps getting them, has he had any investigations like a camera down to see if there's something causing them?

Just another thought, he does know he isn't meant to take other indigestion remedies alongside some prescribed medication?

Just another thought, a bacteria commonly causes ulcers and they can test for that as well. It's called H. pylori.
Does he drink and/or smoke?
Just had a check on some sites for lanzoprazole and imeprazole. They say that other indigestion remedies should not be taken at the same time and to leave a gap though I was told not to take any other indigestion remedies while on those meds.

Oh dear :(
He seems to be just trying to treat the symptoms rather than the cause and history will probably keep repeating itself unless he addresses what is both causing the problems and continuing them.
Unless his GP is looking more at his lifestyle for the problems it is likely they would have considered testing for H Pylori as a cause.
it might be a stronger drug would help him but unless he makes changes then it's only likely to be a patch job or decreasing damage.
It's not to say he has to stop all together but at least cut down, limit the amount of bad things he has, make it more or an occasional treat once he has got things under control with the help of medication.
Trouble is, if he carries on the way he is he may be forced to stop what he is doing by his own body whereas if he is good to it now and gives it a break and chance to heal and gives it a fighting chance of staying that way he may be able to come to some kind of happy compromise.

yeh jen you are probably right...he does drink a fair bit, though he is trying to cut back on it now...but years of ''rock an roll'' have taken their toll i think.
i'll pass on what you said
