I always used to think that when you got period pain, 2-3 days before you are due that it meant you weren't pregnant, but a few friends of mine say it's not true that you still experience mild cramps? Is this true?

Most definitely true!

Thanks for your prompt reply :-) I was also wondering is it true that some women get mild abdominal pain at the beginning of their pregnancy? my friend does and did with all 3 of hers. Any other really obvious symptoms?
Obvious symptoms - an overdue period. Cramping as if you are getting your period and what I'd consider extreme tiredness. During the first few weeks of pregnancy the baby develops very quickly causing major hormonal changes - this tends to leave mum with a complete lack of energy.

I am only 2 days late, but from 2 weeks ago, I've had bizarre mild period pains, extreme thirst and I have gone up a CUP size in the bra department and i just have this odd feeling that I maybe pregnant???

any other odd symptons, I know the obvious answer is to do a test, but it's still early days?
One symptom which is obvious and easy to check is that the veins on your breasts become engorged and visible through the skin. This happens quite early on in pregnancy and is a pretty clear sign in my experience.

there are some veins showing, yes! but I couldn't tell you if they were there before or not, I do know that the "puppies" are rock hard, you get tenderness when you are due on, but I don't usually go up a whole Cup size. Plus my B/F commented I look as if I've had implants overnight!!!! My body has just felt "different" for the last few weeks!
Definitely!! I thought I wasn't pregnant and just waiting for a late period, because I had the usual ache in the lower stomach and lower back, plus tender boobs. The pregnancy test said I wasn't preggers, but the one a week later when I still hadn't come on said I was. I was SURE I was due on my period. But Olivia is now nearly 2, so I was wrong!!!! Do a test. And don't waz it if it says negative. Mine took about 10 minutes to change and even then it was really feint. Have another close look after half an hour!

Thanks guys, if this is the case, and I'm still not sure, I will let you know! You have all been ace, thanks for all your suggestions. I was told when I was 19 that I was unable to conceive, but then I was diagnosed Hypothyroidism and have been taking meds to make my body normal, including fertility, it would be a HUGE surprise, but we shall see!

Thanks again! :-)
I was told at 17yrs old I would never have kids due to multiple and repeated cysts on my ovaries,I now have 2 grown up daughters,an 11 year old son and two grandchildren(8 months and 4 months).
