I went into my back garden about 10.30am today to put some food out for the birds, and this cat was walking across my lawn with a Thrush in its mouth.

It froze as I shouted and raised my arms and it dropped the bird, which flew away.

I know its nature, but I was so happy to see it escape and just hope it wasn't badly injured.

I'm a cat lover but i hate em when they do things like that,

Glad you gave that bird another chance.
I've got two of the little blighters. One of them insists on bringing small animals dead and alive - I save them when I can. That is the only thing I dislike about cats. despite the fact that the "hunter" has a bell, he still brings in all manner of small things (and not so small in fairness!).
Aww..leggy..KNOCK IT OFF!!!
...sorry for my outburst, Rtaxron.....that was very kind-what you did. I am sure if the bird was able to fly, then it must have been ok.

What annoys me is, the cats don't usually eat the birds, they just kill them, but as I said before, its animal nature.
ahh but do we know the bird wanted to die ! if it flew away i guess it didnt . unless it went to look for another cat

Why don't you end it all Leg of Lamb and pi$$ off to bed.
My cat didn't used to eat them, but now he does. The only reason I know he has had birds is a few feathers in the kitchen when I get home. Everything else has been scoffed. AND I feed him. LOADS!!!!

Had a dead rabbit half eaten at the bottom of the stairs the other morning. Nice.

Still, love him to bits.
Our cats seem feeble hunters. They rarely seem to catch birds or anything - but one DID get a pigeon once. Blast! Ruined a good day's sport! (Joke!). I'm glad the poor thing just died, and didn't have to suffer being mauled about. It's nature, but I hate to see it.
