im off on holiday next thursday and was really hoping id have my period before ig, due to but as usual my body is being awkward and waiting until im in greece in the boiling heat before my period starts!!! great!!! ive never used tampons, would like to just to free me up abit so i can still wear a bikini and go in the sea to cool off, quite scared to use them and not too sure how to, sounds stupid coming from a 37 year old!!!!!????

just make sure you change them often, once youve done one youl be ok, just get normal ones 1st , not extra...lol

Ha, ha Patricia. At 17 years old and very innocent I bought a box of 'extra' tampax for my very first try with tampons (didn't really know then that they came in different sizes).
Don't know how, but I managed to use them - but what a struggle it was.
Lynneylou - one tip is to be totally relaxed about it, as Patricia says very good instructions are in the box and you can't go wrong.

well I had a bit of an accident with tampons, a very stupid one but shows how easy and comfortable they are

lynneylou go to your docs and he will give you some tablets. you take them every morning and night and they delay your periods. as soon as you stop takin them your periods start again and your body goes abck to normal. thats what i used to use when going away

have you thought of just getting some tablets from your gp to stop your period. perfectly safe to use. called somethig like noristherone(?)
works a treat and no bloating for your beach outfits!

If you are on the pill, you can carry on taking them without the 7 day gap in between, i usually find this works

lynneylou, go to your GP and ask for Norethisterone. You start taking it a week before your period is due and continue with them until you're ready for it (there's a limit to the tablets, obviously).
You won't have the worry or anxiety that comes with using tampons for the first time that way. Try those another time. Have a lovely holiday. :)
