Have been recommended to try lighterlife to loose weight. Does anyone anyone know anything about how it works, the cost and do you loose weight on it.

someone I know did it for a while and lost weight but ended up putting it all back on again and more when she stopped. From what she said it was horrendously expensive and you don't eat any solid food just milkshakes or soups so yes you will lose weight but in a really difficult way. My advice would be to either simply cut out the fatty foods in your diet you must know what is bad for you or if you want to follow an eating plan do Slimming World or Weight Watchers. Also do exercise, exercise and more exercise! You will burn off more fat this way and tone up. I have recently lost nearly 2 and a half stone by eating sensibly and exercising loads and loads. I now weigh just over 9 stone and the difference in me is great. Anyone can do it you just have to work really hard. Good luck

Eat less. Exercise more. Lay off the booze. Wish there was an easier way though! Maybe you could have a gastric band fitted. Apparently that's the way to go. If you have £7,000 odd to spare. Remember - no fat people came out of Belsen. Apart from the guards...

I am quite shocked and disgusted that you could actually compare Belsen with a fad diet! You quite obviously have no idea .........

Lighter Life costs an arm and a leg - around £45 per week, so much more than a weeks worth of salad. If you must choose a fad diet try Slim Fast. You can at least eat food on it

People do lose weight on it, it is basically a meal replacement diet for people who need to lose at least 3 stone or more.

You have to first of all be referred by a GP before you can even start then the costs can be from around £50-£100 a week and this can go on for some time.

You then have to remember it can't stay that way and you will have to start reintroducing food back in and remember to keep the weight off.

I would say if you are obese and at a loss as to how to lose weight please go see your GP for some advice tailored to you and your history.

Pink kitten. Yes I do know about Belsen. Obviously a lot more than you do. People who eat too much get (and stay) fat. I suggest you look it up! And I'm glad you're shocked. Too many people today don't even know what Belsen was.

Can't see how I know less than you do, you fool. A complete and utter one at that. You should not compare such a terrible thing to a faddy, idiotic diet.

All you had to say was eat less, exercise more

You are an ignoramous

My sister is doing this'diet' and she has lost 36lb in 6 weeks! She drinks nothing but water! I worry about it but she thinks its fantastic. It must be expensive because she wont tell me how much it is costing her! My son no 1 ,microbiologist, says its not good for her, and son no 2 ,sports science student, says the same...both giving lots of scientific reasons why! I just do not think its natural.Go to WWatchers, I lost 5 stone and still ate properly. Good Luck/1

Faddy diets NEVER work. I don't know this one, but too much liquid will dehydrate you in the end. Sounds stupid, but it's true. You are better losing as little as possible. 1lb per week is ideal. Losing weight too quickly starves the body of sugars, then when you come off the diet, your body craves the missing sugars and you put more weight on. I lost 2 stone that I put on due to medication using Rosemary Conley's hip & thigh. There's an exercise regime with it, so no expensive gyms. There is also plenty to eat. Choice of breakfasts, lunches and a 3 course dinner, if wanted. Fads are always just that, fads. Someone, somewhere is making money out of miserable people!

Lighter Life is based on taking in 500 calories a day and drinking 4 litres of water a day. It is expensive - around £45 a week, you have soups and shakes and when you get up to week 2 (or 3, I can't remember) you are allowed a nutrition bar a day. I've tried it and lasted two and a half weeks - I lost nearly a stone (I've a lot to lose) and more or less put the weight straight back on when I started to eat normally again.
I also had really bad headaches. I'm diabetic and checked with my doctor first ( you have to have a doctor's consent form signed before you start the diet) and although he told me I could try the diet he wasn't keen on it. As most people here say, less calories, more exercise.

How can a company justify charging £50 to £100 to lose weight. Absolutely just a money making scheme. The only people that will get any results from them are themselves. As lots of good advice above on this thread. Eat heathily and cut out the CRAP. Taking your weight off too quick is no good as it will go back on twice as fast. Never skip breakfast.

My friend did this diet for months and lost weight, but, as others have said, as soon as she stopped all the weight and more piled back on. Not only that, she was very very ill afterwards, I won't go into details, would probably be sued. But the human body isn't designed to work on that little intake. All the health experts say you need roughage and a quick transit through the body. This diet is designed for severe constipation!!

Don't think pink-kitten and I would get along. If I was ever unfortunate enough to meet her. I'm assuming its a her because of the user-name. Did s/he ever know someone who was in Belsen? Because I did.

Don't bother. It is virtual starvation which doesn't teach you anything about how to feed yourself sensibly. Yes you will lose weight initially but only cos your body goes into a state of ketosis. You cannot possible maintain the eating plan so when you start eating normally again you will gain all the weight back.
Nobody should survive on 500 cals a day. It is just not realistic.

Hi lindataylor, I did lighterlife a year ago, it cost me £60 a week, i lost 2 stone in 8 weeks and put on 4 stone when i finished it. I have since had a gastric band op! lol

It works for some though. There are loads of success stories. I hated the milkshakes, the soups were ok but not fabulous! They certainly weren't worth £60 a week!!

Good luck whatever you choose to do xxx

I find my lighterlife to be about three weeks....but then it depends upon how much petrol I put in it.

Who you know is completely irrelevant
Comparing such an atrocity to a fad diet is appalling and you should be ashamed of yourself
Ask your 'friend' and see what they tell you. People in Belsen had no choice
You are one sick individual
