If someone asks you if they look fat in something, and you think they do, should you tell them? I have a friend how is fat (hey, everyone needs a fat friend!) and she is not really attractive either but when we go out she asks if things look good on her and most of the time I just say yes but another friend of mine said I am being crueler by not telling her she looks a mess, but surely if she looks a state it's her problem, not mine?

For example if she is wearing a short top, say to her, that a long hip skimming top will look much better!

If you are going to start telling friends the 'truth' about what they look like then you have to expect them to do the same to you (after all, just because you are presumably thinner than your friend doesn't mean you dress better).
