i have a friend who stays awake for 4 days an then sleeps for 3
Longest I've stayed awake was about 36 hours. It was horrible!
about 5 days after my father died.
drank about 3 jars of nescafe and never ate for a week.

these things happen .
about 48 hours after that probably about 2 hours each night, this was after i found out some pretty sh!t stuff and i lost 1 stone in a week too as leg just mentioned this things happen.
Getting on for 48 hours and even then I only slept for a couple of hours, then I was awake for another straight 20 hours or more. Worst feeling ever and one of the worst experiences of my life :(
I suffer with what i jokingly call part time insomnia!!

sometimes i just cant sleep how ever hard i try so i end up back downstairs watching whatever is on TV at that time?

the longest i have gone without sleep is probably 3 days?
I'm like Bill, it's part time. The longest I think was approx 42 hours and 39 minutes but I stopped checking the clock after that.

That said, this week I have not been to bed before 2am since Tuesday and waking up at 6:30am. My sense of humour on the matter is starting to fail.

Glad I am not alone on that... esp the part time insomnia part! EVntually fell asleep around 7am...making it 25 hours...but I have gone 3 days before. ... you're all so right... it is a sh*t feeling ay... thank goodness i had a day OFF work today so i could sleep a bit...just woke a short while ago. ................here's to sweet dreams for ALL of you 2night.......
I am a very bad sleeper and have gone several nights at a time without sleep, the longer it goes on, the worse it gets. I sometimes then have to take a mild sedative just to get some sleep. Doctor said its down to stress, which I think it is but over the years this takes its toll on your face with wrinkles coming now (doh).

I also have "twitchy leg" syndrome, which is my name for it. I only have to think about it and my legs twich and jump for hours at a time. This has gone on for years, hubby is used to it and sleeps through it now, I hate it but only have tablet if I really have to.
many 36 hour stints without sleep due to work.
every so often would fall asleep at my desk and then wake up in a panic and wonder where the hell I was.

It really messes you up though for at least a good few days.
I stayed awake for 9 days and then 13 days a few weeks later when I was taking a lot of amphetemines when I was about 17/18. I wouldn't advise it as I had a minor stroke. The world record is 13 days or so I believe and that's what I was attempting to beat. My weight dropped to 9 stone 4 (I was 6 foot 4 at the time!) Single most stupid thing I've done in my life but fortunately I've gotten over it with apparently no lasting damage although I didn't feel right for months afterwards if not years!
About 12 hours as i need my sleep I'm a light weight....
Hi evedawn, 30 hours, working as an auxiliary nurse. xxxxx
Every year when we take the graduating class away for the weekend, I am up from about 5am on Friday morning until about 10 am on Saturday. Then when the kids are off doing god knows what, the adults usually head back to bed until lunch. So, I guess 29 or 30 hours is the limit.
