I am 50 and my rash developed 3 weeks ago. I still have a stubborn pock above my eyebrow and am still itchy. I'm still feeling lousy and my appetite has not returned. Has anyone else felt like this?

I am prone to panic attacks, and these are usually brought on when i start worrying about somthing.
If you don't think about them and don't think about the pain chances are they will go.
Sorry to be absolutly useless to you but thats all i can offer you.

Suicide Hotline...please hold.

All work and no play will make you a manager.
Oh heck, poor you, I was bad enough at 26!
Yes, it's quite likely that you will take several weeks to recover, it's a horrible debilatating virus in an adult.
Don't try to do too much too soon, drink plenty of fluids & maybe something like Metatone (a tonic) will give you a boost & promote your appetite.
Do you like milky drinks? Build - Up sachets from your pharmacy that you mix in a glass of milk are very good. I love the vanilla one & they may do a savoury one too, as do Complan.
Hope you feel better soon.

Hello pedantic , I feel for you and fully understand that as an adult you will take longer to get over this than a child.
When my son was little we got it at the same time but I can remember it was a horrid few weeks .I recall covering us in Calamine lotion and taking antihistamines to try to quell the urge to scratch. :-)
Hi pendantic - our eldest daughter & both her two little ones had chickenpox last year. They were all absolutely covered, poor things, but with our daughter being much older, the after effects were more prolonged for her. She felt washed out for some time after, so I helped where I could, so she could get plenty of rest. Hope you can too.

I do hope you'll be feeling much better very soon.

Hi BM - I bet you made a wonderful Nurse. -x-

I had shingles a couple of years back. When I told my GP it felt like wading through treacle, he told me he had chicken pox as an adult and that he had felt like sh1t, for a month. (my GP has a very modern bedside manner). So you should be feeling rough for a least a week more.
hi pedantic i have chicken pox ,, day 5 . feeling better in myself today .have you been to your gp this is a must for older people. i understand it can take up to 4 week's for the spot's to go .by the way i am 57
