Anyone know any good remedies for eczema?

I have it on the bottom of my feet and although it is not as bad as it was some years back it can still become terrribly itchy and sometimes unbearable.

I find stress seems to make it a lot worse.

Any advice is appreciated.

IT IS FANTASTIC FOR ECZEMA X
....or E45.....you can buy that over the counter now....about 2.99 x
e45 or superdrugs simple version, very good

or if its really bad try hydricortisone cream from the pharmacy, but you have to ask for it

seems strange to have it on the bottom of your feet though
u sure its not athletes foot> tech ?

Thank you all for your words of wisdom.

I have used e45 and hydrocortisone in the past to no avail. Although our skin changes and it may be worth trying again?

I have asked the same question about it being a strange place to get it but they tend to fob me off.

All I know is when i flares up, it's a nightmare.
i'm sure you know if it is ahletes foot, but if its between your toes, dont! use hydrocortisone cream!

but, you can use caneston hydrocortisone cream for both!
curly my doc used to prescribe me hydrocorsitone because I had dry patches of eczema on my face.....it does work brilliantly.....but I think people should know......use it very very sparingly.....

No it's definately not athletes foot. It's all the classic symptoms of eczema. My husband has suffered with athletes foot before and it is very different in appearance and discomfort to mine.

Thank you though x

This is on the soles of my feet if that helps at all...
TechGirl.....what type of job do you do?.....if you are on your feet all day maybe that's aggrivating it?......maybe just and open pair of sandals may help.

I am at a desk during the day for work (might start a thread about my repetitive strain injury) :-)

You are absolutely right though, when I wear open shoes it certainly soothes it when it is at its worst.
me doctor used too prescribe it too, its funny as when i couldnot be botherd to get from them so, i'd ask for it at the chemists, and they always say " its not for your face" thats where its prescribed for...

sorry techgirl, try superdrug bath oil, its very good

and yes, hydrpocortisone, will cause thinning of the skin, if over used, but it's temporary

Thank all of you very much for your advice. I am making a list of all the things to try.

Your help is much obliged x
TechGirl.....just before you head off.....someone I know also suffers with painful soles of the feet......I recommened that she soaked her feet in warm water....with beleive it or not.......a touch of washing up liquid....she told me that it did ease it. x
i got rid of mine and haven't had it since with neat lavendar essential oil.

i recently read that pepto bismol can help too, but i don;t know myself - but i guess it can't hurt to try it.
Question Author
ooh thank red~bez, I'll give it a try.
Question Author
Pepto bismol is on my list now too, ty joko.

Unfortunately I have an allergy to lavender so that one is out.

I bet you are relieved to be rid of your eczema?

rofl

It could make me run fast on account of his tickling stick (I'm VERY ticklish), that might have an adverse reaction. The friction when running could be detrimental. I wouldn't want to take the chance.

:-)
lol fair enough but think of all the fun you and the lovely mr dodd could have !!!
