I've had loads of problems with a family who live in my village. They are harrasing my family but because there are never any witnesses we get nowhere with the police. Last incident was my car being covered with orange juice and chewing gum being stuck under the door handle. Previously I've had the back windscreen wiper and wing mirror ripped off the car. They drive past the house and sound their horn every day (to say nothing of the verbal abuse) and this has been going on for 18 months. Any suggestions other that gettting a hit man in.

get evidence. try and get film footage. Do you have a video camera or know where you may be able to borrow one? Ask neighbours to keep and eye out and make note of anything they witness.
oh poor you we had really bad neighbours a few years ago it was a night mare happy day when they moved . we put up a cctv camera they are not that expensive now . argos do them . any thing they do you will get on tape . good luck
i really sympathise with you , i had a lot of trouble some years back just like you . the police were no help but thankfully they were renting and after complaints by other neighbours the landlord got rid of them . as the others say get evidence and good luck toyou

Thank you all for your answers. Since I posted this question my husband and son both had their cars covered with what looks and smells like engine oil. The police have just been round and have said pretty much the same thing - no witnesses so they can't do anything. Our cars are parked on a public road outside the house and apparently if we put up cctv we could get done for data protection (or something equally silly) You can only film on private property. As for going to the head of the family, the father, mother and 7 children are all equally disgusting - the reason they target us is because we had a run in with their 16 year old son several years back and had to go to court to give evidence against them. Since then the whole family see it as their duty to keep having a go at us. Unfortunately they own their own property so no chance of getting them out. The police are well aware of this family but their hands are tied until we get hard evidence. In the mean time they know how to work the system and will probably never get caught.
There is nothing to prevent you from putting cctv up on your own property in these circumstances - you are not offending the Data Protection Act and you will not be prosecuted for it. Get them on tape and the Police will have something to back up what you say about this dreadful family
THE ONLY thingh then jo long shot though it is , is to and i know you shouldnt have to park your cars in a nearby street - or hire a garage , dont let them get away with this!!
could you not watch from the window when u know they are likely to atack - ie friday after the pub and film it on your mobile phone ,
sound like the family are a bunch of *********
Know what you're going through-you stand up to these Scumbags and you end up coming off worse- we put up a pair of cctv camera's on the front and back of the house they only cost about 70 from argos and to be honest the quality is not great and we don't always have them recording but the fact that they flash blue all the time they are on seems to have put a stop to the damage we were being subjected to. These ar****es don't know what you can see on them and it deters them, dead easy to put up and set up.

Thank you all once again for your answers. These attacks on our cars are so infrequent that we may not have another incident for 3 - 4 weeks. My 13 year old has voluntered to sleep in the car in order to catch them - bless his cottonpicking socks (he could be in the car till he's 16!). I'll look into the Argos cctv - sounds like thats the best solution. Thanks again. It's good to know there are nice caring guys like you out there - restores my faith in the human race!
