im not working so i can throw expensive presents at my child. Im working because i like to work.
If you and your child are happy with your lifestye and relationship (redcrx) then it's fine. I made a few financial sacrifices ,obviously, when I gave up my career, but I believed time was more important than money (and fun at work!) and I didn't want to miss anything, especially pre-school.
One example that I thought was sad and 'telling' was when I used to take my kids to gym and watch them from the window. All the 'nannies' would be nattering over a coffee and the Mums would be watching, proudly, and their kids would have that 'look at me Mum' look in their eyes when they were jumping on the trampoline etc.
I just think that a parent should spend as much time as possible with their kids if they can,it's all over too quickly.(sorry to sound soppy-that's what happens when you 'stay at home' lol!)
Anyway ,why aren't you at work redcx?
i am, ganesh! and today my son is next to me. Currently he is singing 'ring a roses' to me and telling me his dinners gone in his mouth and down to his jumper (he doesnt understand his tummy is inside)
I didnt mean you red, nor was i critisising women who work. I was just pointing out the difference between spending all your time devoted to your career, whilst the kids take second place. Thats totally different. I understand the need and the desire to not spend every waking hour at home with the kids. I do it and its so tough.
I was more thinking of my boss and her sort. Money is the be all and end all and the kids take second place, way different than the ordinary stuff in life that we all want and need.. They just want more and more and it comes at a heavy price imo.
I concentrate on my career so that my wife doesn't have to have one (her choice) and can stay at home raising baby octavia in luxurious comfort.

Although I miss everything that happens during the day I make as much as I can of evening hours and weekends.

It works for us.
Congratulations on Baby Octavia, Octavius! :o) x

Aww! I remembered seeing a post of yours saying that BO's arrival was imminent and then you were quiet for a while...

Congrats again! Lots of love. x

Well done whiskey for remembering and spotting it.

Children, every time.
I was a "Stay at home mum" and would'nt have had it any other way. Children come first.
