Hubby is away at the moment and i don't have a male figure to ask so hope someone can help me here.

Son (6) woke up this morning complaing that his willy was sore, so i looked at it as u do and did look slightly red on the end where the foreskin is. Told him to put some sudocream on it.

He came home from school and said it was still sore and when his clothes touch it it is sore too and stingy. Says it isn't sore or stingy to wee. Said have a bath and we will have another look ( not that i know what to look for!) he can pull his foreskin back and it didn't smell but did have some whitish stuff on it (which i assume is cheese..sorry for the graphicness) he washed it off and said it was stinging when he washes it. Also he foreskin when he pulled it back was really quite red. Have sent him to bed now and he says his pj bottoms rub on it making him sore so he has gone to bed with no clothes on.

Any ideas what could be or shall i just take him down dr's tomorrow??

Thanks

my son had a similar problem [he was 7 at the time] i took him the doctors and he had a kidney infection which was making his wee a lot stronger and gave him an infection on his foreskin.he is 18 now so its a long time ago but i hope this helps to put your mind at rest.hope the little fella is well soon..
my son had a sore and bleeding willy when he was about the same age, the Dr said it was balanitis and I think he was given some antibiotics (he's nearly 19 now so a bit hard to remember). I wouldn't hesitate to take him down the drs tomorrow as you never know with kids and it's better to be safe than sorry.
sounds like some sort of infection and i would definately say take him to the doctor for antibiotics. both my sons had lots of infections at round about the same age, and in the end needed to be circumcised. really, don't wait around, it must be very sore for him.
when i had my son i got told to never pull back the forskin even to clean it
i would definatly take him to the docs

hope hes ok xx
As one who works in an Operating Theatre I'd recommend you go to A&E Dept tomorrow. Don't panic, it's just better to err on the side of caution.
As havinmysay says it is not a good idea to retract the foreskin on a boy at such an age, it can lead to a complication called paraphimosis which in turn can result in a circumcision.
Best of luck.
Take him to GP, you could wait hours at A+E as it is neither an accident or an emergency!
Our youngest had this problem very frequently. Our GP prescribed Canestan cream which always cleared it up after a couple of days. For Xmas, Santa brought him a pack of boxer shorts (he has always worn briefs) and he stopped having the problem...right up to this week when he dressed himself and put briefs on. By the time he came home from school his willie was red raw at the end. You must keep his willie clean - when my son has his 'problem' I stick him in the bath twice a day. He is old enough to have his foreskin pulled back for cleaning.
alijangra,
Quite wrong! If a young infant male develops a paraphimosis it most certainly IS an emergency as blood supply to the glans can be restricted, often resulting in an emergency circumcision. What happens at a GP's if you require immediate surgery? You get referred to A&E!!

As far as young children are concerned it's always better to go to A&E and if the matter is not too serious they can refer you back to your GP.

By the way mgba_78, how is the little chap? Hope he's ok.

Thanks everyone.. he is much better thanks. He woke up in the morning and said it felt much better. Have said to him now he is a bigger boy he needs to take more care of himself, and maybe washing down there in the morning too.
