I know this may sound really trivial, & of course I have other problems of a greater magnitude. But I was just popping down the local shops, & from the opposite side of the road I herd voices proclaiming "my, what an ugly face, I mean U.G.L.Y!"
I looked over to find a group of young men all looking in my direction, clearly talking about me.
I've been in floods of tears ever since, understand I cannot change my face on my wages at this time, but how do I get my confidence back for now? I'm dreading the next time I have to go out

dont let it bother you they were probably a bunch of drugged up halfwits, what does ugly mean anyway? its just a term, next time give them the middle finger and tell them to get a job and keep your head up
And all these men were God's gift right??

I wouldn't let it worry you Gal, people are idiots sometimes and hurt others because they have their own insecurites. Some are even inclined to be insulting because they think someone is out of their league.

Also some people think they're funny when in fact road kill is more entertaining.

Sounds like a bunch of blokes giving it the big 'I am' to me and it's their problem not yours.

Just walk out with your head held high and act as confident as a lion amongst a load of fat, lame zebras. Sometimes if you act a certain way you'll end up feeling it. It's like smilling when you're depressed.

Chin up tiddler, don't take any notice of a load of men with personalities a mother would be ashamed of.

China Doll
Sometimes Duckster puts things better than me! LMAO...
i was standing behind them... i thought you were funkin gorgeous... here's my number... call me hotcakes... :o)
Oh you poor thing, what a bunch of morons!!!!

Just ignore them hun, they only say those kind of things to make themselves look "important" with their mates, typical immature comment! I've had my share too, just ignore, and rejoyce in the fact that you can change your appearance if you want to, but they'll remain moronic inbreds forever! :-) xxx
Don't be crying about that! They'd have said it whoever was walking past, even if it was someone absolutely beautiful, because they want to intimidate people. It's just unfortunate you were the most accesible target at the time, don't take it personally, they were trying to be hurtful, they weren't saying it because thay really think it.

Or you could make yourself feel better about your face by going down and rearranging theirs with a cricket bat! :)

Firstly, are you absolutely 100% sure they were referring to you jus some gal?

Secondly, if they were shouting out to you, I can guarantee they were just being very immature & didn't mean it all all.

Unfortunately, there are some people on this planet that don't deserve the air they breath - so please try to forget about it - easier said than done I know, but if nobody else has ever done this to you before, it'll just go to prove that what I've said is true!

Chin up & be proud of yourself, very proud! -x-
Crossed posts - hope you feel much better now. -x-

100% smudge, unfortunately not overly raised voices, & it's been said before in a less direct way

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Thank God we don't all agree on what makes us tick
-- answer removed --
Thinking back to when I was in my early 20's & having an 'off' day - I was putting some make-up on & said to my older & wiser sister "Oh Flo, I look really yucky today", she replied "I think you're standng too close to the mirror darling".

It's something I've always remembered & tried not to scrutinise myself too much after that.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder & those silly blokes were very silly beholders!

Shakespeare expressed a similar sentiment in Love's Labours Lost, 1588:

Good Lord Boyet, my beauty, though but mean,
Needs not the painted flourish of your praise:
Beauty is bought by judgement of the eye,
Not utter'd by base sale of chapmen's tongues

Benjamin Franklin, in Poor Richard's Almanack, 1741, wrote:

Beauty, like supreme dominion
Is but supported by opinion

Nobody is ugly - I think that is a terrible word. Everyone has a positive point even if they are not considered to be 'magazine perfect'. I always think it's weird you see women and men on TV criticising others and you think have you looked in the mirror yourself today!!!!!!!!!!

We all have special qualities!!!!!!!!!
