If you are having root canal then it is coz the tooth nerve is basically dead and they need to fill it. Sometimes it never causes problems, but if it is "leaking" as you say, then you must have an infection. Have they given you antibiotics?

You can get root canal and crowns on the NHS. I believe it costs the 3rd tier price that NHS charges are now ie 190. Privately would cost hundreds.

When you have had root canal, this usually weakens the tooth greatly, hence the need to put a crown on.
Unless you qualify for 100% free dental work, even NHS patients have to pay.

The charge for crowns is 189.
