Logical thinking! That's my cup of tea as well. Which is why I reject the Big Bang and evolution as illogical.

He loves us so much he is going to sit back and watch the travesties that befall this world everyday, to the young the old, the week and the frail, he watches them all suffer and does nothing!! I wouldn't want anything to do with a God like that!!

Children suffer in their millions: Starvation, disease, cruelty, neglect, exploitation. These are terrible and sometimes inexplicable facts.
God gave us free will, and so many of us use it for self gratification, at the expense of others.
The blame for the millions of kids dying of disease and hunger in the world, lies with us, with mankind, as this earth is quite capable of feeding its population. We don't feed them for reasons directly traceable to mans selfish nature. It's the same with lack of medicines and education. How many suffer in countries run by power mad dictators?
But, a little child, alone, vulnerable to abuse and maybe bereaved, cries out for comfort. None comes. This is the sin of the adults who are supposed to look after the child. The sin is theirs. The responsibility is theirs, not Gods.
God sees a bigger picture than us. We are trapped in time, God is eternal. To Him, the past, present and future are before Him NOW, something we cannot even imagine.
In Gods bigger picture, it's all O.K. The tears have been long ago wiped away, there is only joy in heaven, for that hurting little child.
You are still hurting. I can tell that you are still bitter, yes, towards God, whom you say cannot exist because, you were allowed to suffer.
Here is the miracle. You can let go of your anger and your bitterness, and know that a loving God awaits you, wanting only the very best for you, in the bigger picture that He has before Him.
My wisdom is limited, but I am convinced so much that God is going to heal you, that before I go to sleep tonight, I shall pray that your heart be softened, that you will let go of your anger, and let the Lord Jesus Christ come into your life to heal you.

So a psychopath has a conscience that tells him its OK to kill you and rob you, in order for him to live and feed the family he loves. He's a predator just like in the jungle. His conscience is different to yours, and mine is different again. If we all make up our own rules, there will be a lot of similarities, but some differences.

OK Theland, so what is "God". Dont tell me you think its an old beared man sitting on a fluffy cloud somewhere, or is it mere.ly a mythological character which has evolved over the centuries to give people something to cling to. I still believe your own God is your own conscience. If you havent got a conscience then you dont have a "God" and thats when morality goes down the pan.
Raysparx1 - I entirely agree with you. If anybody wanted to hurt one of mine, I would have revenge in my heart, cold bloody revenge.
But that is my imperfection shining through.
I can use force to prevent a hurt, I think, and would do so, and have done. We can't stand by and see violence done. These are moral and ethical questions that deserve great scholarship and considered responses. I will try to answer.
I do try to turn the other cheek, to stop smoking, to never be bad tempered. I try. I fail. I sin. I repent. I am forgiven.
Don't look to me for a perfect answer, because I have been the most sinful person I have ever known! But God IS perfect, and He has a perfect plan for YOUR life.

OK Theland, thank you very much for what was clearly a very deeply thought about reply.I'll buy that the "sin" or "weakness"of abuse is with the abuser, I would never dispute that for a moment.
I remember very clearly the feeling of betrayal, not from my parents, but actually God's betrayal of me because I wanted nothing from him really save perhaps for some small shred of hope.
Oddly enough I am not bitter anymore about what happened to me, I forgave my father a long time ago and I do know joy but not through God, through my wife's unswerving love and faith in me ( and she's Jewish by the way lol).
The only way one can progress is by letting go of our hurt and I did that and always encourage others to do the same, but God was nowhere around at any point.My wife was against all the odds.
I would love to believe, but I genuinely can't.
I used to and then circumstances beyond my control at the time took that belief from me, so I ask you,to press my train of thought a little further, will I go to heaven as a non believer? Or will I burn in hell because I asked God for help as a 6 year old and didn't get any, so came to my own weak mortal conclusions?
