Okay, after being diagnosed with a stomach ulcer last week and having bloods taken,my doctor has just called me to say I have Hashimoto's disease. and have to take medication for life. It's just one thing after another the last month and I really am fed up.I know this isn't a question but I am sat alone feeling very miserable and a friendly word or two would be most welcome.

Awww Pink :o(

You have really been through the mill haven't you? not much to say really, but I too have Hashimotos disease (underactive thyroid) and even though the medication has improved my health greatly I still have days when I feel low...it is very easy to slip into depression with this disorder and sometimes you feel as if you can't bring yourself to think positive.

You must take care of yourself ~ eat well & rest as much as possible but also take some regular exercise (very difficult when you feel exhausted!)

The medication is really a doddle ~ just one tablet a day & the best thing of all is that any meds you have to take will be on free prescription (as well as any other meds such as antibiotics etc). A small bonus I know...

Big love at ya,

Pip xx
You get to meet me Wednesday :-) Now if thats not enough to make you smile I dont know how I can help :-)
pink sorry your feeling down are you sure you have the right spelling for the condition, look on the bright side it is treatable,
Aww Pink I'm sorry you've had such a cr4p time, have a hug.
I don't know much about your condition, but I had TB Meningitis and had to take very long range drugs even when I came out of hospital and the thought of that really got me down initially. However the drug regime soon just becomes so automatic that it becomes part of your everyday life and you don't even really think about it, so long term drug treatment isn't as bad as it sounds when you are first told you have to do it.
You've had such a terrible time lately, try and look on the bright side that at least they've correctly identified the problem and are treating you accordingly. Tell me more about it though as i'm quite ignorant of the condition itself.
4get maybe it was the thought of meeting you that brought on the ulcer :)

At least your GP has investigated it Pink and now you know what it is you can start taking the treatment and hopefully feeling the improvements soon. x
Slap a ******* smile on your chops before I come round round there and dance the macarena while wearing a ra ra skirt, a feather boa, my mary golds and with half my face painted as a clown and the other half painted as a lady of the night (that could actually be the same thing)! Now you know I'll do it so it's best you just show me some godamn teeth.... ;0)

Seriously tho, if you're feeling low, drop me a line. You can rant away to your hearts content.

The medication for this disease is remarkably good apparently and you'd be far worse off if you weren't taking it... And at least it's something that can be treated. I know you've had a ropy month sweetpea but thank heaven for small blessings... And worse comes to the worse, I still love ya xx

You'd better be ******* smiling.... I've got the face paints out.
pink found the info .im sure you will feel better with treatment.
big hug from me to pinkfizz xx

Hi Pink,

I had symptoms for a very long time before I went to the GP..I was a very silly woman! for a long time I suffered depression, weight gain (went from 9 stone to 12 stone) and extreme fatigue..I would drop off to sleep in the afternoon and be there for a few hours! it was only by chance that I was diagnosed as I went for a blood test as I had a urinary tract infection. My cholesterol was sky high, which was apparently due to the Hashimotos.

That is now under control, and even though I have lost around one and a half stone I still can't shift that last one..probably due to being on the wrong side of 35 ;o)
Feel free to add me ~ and that offer is open to all!
