Hello All,

My sister had Pneumonia a few weeks back and a lung absess. She is fine now but had an Xray yesterday and the doctor put her on 2 more weeks of Antibiotics. They took a Urine and Blood sample and are checking her for some disorder! I can't remember what its called but they said its where her Anti-Bodies kill off her blood cells! Does anyone know more about this?

Many thanks,

Ruby xx

Legionella?
dont think so octavius i think legionella is an infection of the lungs found in air conditioning units and is a water borne infection
Yes you are right, and legionella from such places can cause pneumonia.

Following treatment of pneumonia, specific blood serology tests for other bacteria (Mycoplasma, Legionella and Chlamydophila) and a urine test for Legionella antigen are taken for testing and to evaluate kidney function.
Hi Ruby - it isn't bronchiectasis is it ?

Kartegener syndrome?
a defination might be helpful octavious
Kartageners syndrome is bronchiectasis + infertility in males also chronic sinusitis - it's due to a problem with the cells that clear mucus from the lungs and sinuses and waft sperm along the tubes.

Wegener's granulomatosis?
Question Author
Perhaps! Does that sound like what it could be?
By Jehovah! It could be, and it might not be. Only her consultant will be sure.
