You can change but get a new dentist 1st , very hard to find an NHS one but if you go private its not so hard to get one but itl cost you ..
i think i depends on where you live..some areas ive heard have a great shortage of dentists with long waiting lists. i had the exact same problem a month or so ago and my tongue ended up cut to bits. i got a temp filling which i will have until i can afford the real thing! ridiculous that you cant go where you like and afford it as well...a tip..stick a bit of chewing gum in it for a while to ease the tongue. thats what i had to do and i worked.
I know how you feel. I had a check up on Wednesday and when I came home my tooth broke. Going again on Tues. Is it your Dentist or Dentists in general you don't like. I am ok going for check ups but not too brave when I know I have something to be done. You can't get a NHS dentist where I live.
Hi ruge,i was told it wasnt easy finding a nhs dentist taking patients, but i had to change,my old dentist was a butcher, hadnt been for years, too scared,i was lucky enough to find a practice taking nhs easily, they are out there but a few calls will be needed!

hi everyone! i am not scared of dentists, my dentist at the mo started operating on me before the anesthectic kicked in and it was bloody painful! i have lost all confidence in him now!!

i dont want to go nhs, i will be a paying customer?
Just make a few calls ruge,it could possibly pay off,
As a paying customer (non NHS) you can choose to visit whichever dentist you are most happy with. However, there is a catch! Private dentists will charge a consultation fee to assess you. Therefore, you will need to do some homework and ask for recommendations before you visit. I've yet to hear of a dentist you will allow you a 10 minute 'chat' for free. By the time you've met a dentist (or several even) and decided you do/don't like them, you could well have paid numerous consultation fees.
Consultation fees - this Harley Street?

We don't have any NHS Dentist places in Cumbria currently, but I think I pay about 15/month which gives me 2 checkups for free and discounts off the treatment. Kindof like Den-Plan, but slightly better prices, especially as I get the discounts immediately and don't have to claim.
