Of course no one can know unless they were actually in the stiuation but I was wondering. If you had a child that was on a life support machine and had little qulaitly of life would you agree to have the machine turned off? Also who do you think has the right to choose if a patient is let die in this situation. The Doctors or the Parents?

AbEd says to ask you to leave the site.

She never did! As long as I am good I can stay.I am asking a good question here so if you do not mind either answer it or leave my thread alone.

This is not meant to be nasty! Why would you think that?I just wandered what the majority of people would do in the situation.I cannot say but I think I would turn it off.If they have no quality of life then it is the fairest thing to do.This was no meant to be offensive!
scuzzball is correct. please leave
nasty!
Question Author
I think you have to be fair.In this case I have done nothing wrong.I have asked a good question not a stupid or offensive one and I therefore do not expect that kind of treatment. I have not said anything nasty!
Question Author
Someone tell me how this is in anyway nasty! Am I missing something? If this was ANYONE else asking you would all say it was a good question and answer sensibely.
yer the ED did say if we had a problem that it would be better to ask you to leave. But in answer to your question if they basically had no life left then it would be a hard decision but yes I would turn the machine off and it would be my right to decide.

Thank you. 4getmenot that is more like it!
you ask the most insensitive things, please think before you type.you are obviously out to upset others.you have caused mcfluff upset,i think you should leave this site.
my thoughts are with you mcfluff xx

OMG I asked because I was genuinely interested in what most people would do.There is no point trying to make out this was an offensive question because it is not in any way at all!
czechlesbian - The truth of the matter is you are immature, sometimes cruel and insensitive and you provoke the worst reaction in people. Questions like this from you will, I'm afraid always meet with the same reaction. Maybe you should try and find more productive ways to spend your time than this? I hope that you can see the error of your ways soon, and go out and do some good in the world eh? Provocation of this nature can start wars.
i do agree with the fact that if it was one of the 'in crowd' asking then there would be a different response but its not a thing anyone with kids wants to even think about...i cant!
then if you cant see why its wrong then you are seriously wrong in the head.fro someone who is supposed to be studying to be a doctor.... your a joke.
As someone who has a relative who went through this at Christmas...

... my personal opinion is that if the quality of life is so poor that it makes your insides hurt with sadness when you see your loved one in such a condition, it is, of course, far kinder to bring an end to it.

In our case, the doctors were excellent and explained everything very clearly. Some members of the family were unsure initially, but the medical team kind of 'made' the decision which was just as it should be.

With a child involved... i dunno. Couldn't comment.
Woops sorry guys does that make me wrong for giving a sensible answer back? :-) she winds me up too but hasnt gone off in her own little stupid world yet (give it time). When someone asks about spots etc we dont go off on one saying hang on I've got spots..... Sorry if I offended anyone by answering
to answer your question then, my sister was offically classed as brain dead and between the doctors and my father thay made the decision to switch the machines keeping her alive off, she left behind 3 young daughters and the hardest thing i have every had to do is to try to explain to a 5 and 6 year old why they could see there mothers heart beating whn they had been told she had died (the machines were kept on so her organs could be transplanted). when you post q's like this you must realise that some people would of been in these situations, or are you really that stupid and insensative
Question Author
O.k if I offended anyone than I am sorry!I really did not mean to and I did not think this was offensive.
Perhaps now you understand how it has upset some people you could email ED and get the post removed then
