I've got earache, caused by getting water in my ear and then trying to clear them in various different ways. Any top tips for getting my hearing back and easing the discomfort??

Getting a hot water and lying down resting your bad ear on it might be helpful. It definately relaxes it for me.
Same for me - hot water bottle wrapped in a towel and held to the ear that is hurting or laid with your ear on the hot water bottle
Get some soluable painkiller like panadol, and gargle with it - this is VERY effective for easing glue-ear.
oil on cotton wool and leave it in your ear overnight. Although there are different variations on which oil to use.

of course, if its really bad, you'll have to get them syringed or there are special ear drops to get from the pharmacist.
I have a great cure for earache, tried and tested on me and it works! Heat some salt up in a pan as you would making toffee, although the salt wont caramelise. anyway, heat the salt, get a good quality sock and pour the salt into a sock and tie a tight not in it. Hold the sock to your ear, it's so comforting and does work. This is what i used to use when i was little and i swear the salt draws any badness out of your ear.
