Do you clean your tongue when you brush your teeth?

Many people who have tonsilloliths also complain about having a white tongue, or more specifically a thick white coating on the tongue that wont come off.

It is very possible to have tonsil stones without having this white coating, yet in many people they seem to go hand-in-hand. The reason for this is simply because what causes this problem is essentially the same thing that aids in the production of tonsil stones.

A white coated tongue is caused by an accumulation of volatile sulfur compounds that collect on the back of your tongue and throat. These volatile sulfur compounds are created by the anaerobic bacteria that live under the surface of your tongue and they are the same sulfur compounds that cause the foul smell experienced when you break open a tonsil stone.
A white tongue can point to a number of things, these include,
Stagnation of blood.
Fat and mucus deposits.
A weakness in the blood, which can lead to various conditions such as Anemia.

If you've had this for as long as you say, an appointment with the doctors is a bit overdue.
i once read that sugar gives you a furry tongue. just brush it when you do youre teeth.
ive had this for ages too..i dont have tonsils, use a tongue scraper every morning and have a fairly healthy diet. im very embarrassed by it as it does smell. i drink tons of water and constantly eat chewing gum to keep the saliva flowing. the only thing ive noticed though is that im always always thirsty and yet i drink loads of water.

Thank you very much for all your answers. I will deffinatly ask my dentist if this is an issue. I do drink fair amounts of water, eat heathily and chew gum. As it hasnt been causing any discomfort i didnt get it checked out but as ive had it for a while and its not nice to look at i wanted to know if anyone else suffered from it.

Thank you all very much, once ive had it checked out i will let you know what it is!
