Hi. I have been to Spiritualist Churches many times. Normally you are asked to pay a donation, but some churches may ask you to pay a couple of pounds to enter. Most offer mediumistic services where a travelling medium will attempt to contact loved ones who have passed over, and a lot offer healing services. A lot offer groups where people can develop any latent psychic abilities but what I will say to you is visit and I hope you enjoy the experience.

how spooky judiewudie...i was just coming onto this part of the site to post the EXACT same question!

basically ive always been really sceptical about this sort of thing but i've got a couple of family members who go regularly and the things that they get told when they are there are completely unreal....totally accurate. In the beginning i passed a few things off as being general things that most people could apply to themselves but the more i hear, the more specific they are. i'm now getting so convinced that the spiritualist must have some sort of connection that im thinkin gof going along to see it for myself. still unsure but.....aaagh i dunno!

the ones ive been to just pass a dish round like most church's there a great experiance, very friendly, and very interesting, the medium of the night usually does a opening chat about something and then go's to people in the audiance with messages from spirit, you can usually chat to them after the service as well with a cup of tea and biscuit if you want and some offer healing which is just fab. you can also sometimes get the more famous mediums at theatres they do tours, colin fry and tony stockwell are great, same kind of evening that you have at sp church, they have there own web sites you can find tour dates etc on. basically www. there name .co.uk have a look lots of info on them.
as for what happens apparently you're in a room with all the other people and the spiritualist will just start talking to one of you and passing on messages from loved ones. before that (when he/she picks you out) they'll say specific things to you in order to be sure they're talking to the right person. sounds kinda freaky but im fascinated now!
Iwent to one some years ago, in the Midlands, out of respect to some friends I was staying with, basically, they were a happy bunch, but I lost it and walked out when they started talking in 'Tongues', and working themselves into a frienzy.

mkt - don't you think spooky things happen like this sometimes? But why ?? ooooooo
Judiewudie....i don't know! Maybe we are psychic or something?? Hey i should go to this church after all! Mind you i may not need the spiritualist eh?! It seems we have the special gift! Lol.

Lonnie - I've never been to one like that!

Just to add to what the others have already said, I too have been many times and find that some of the mediums are better than the others so if you go the first time and don't think that the medium is very good, do go again - you will probably get a better one the next time.

Lonnie, I dont know where you went but that was'nt a genuine spiritualist church!
Forgot to mention. Mullien3 is a medium or was until recently:-)
lonnie..i dont know where you went in the midlands..but the spiritualist churches are not allowed to behave like that they have very strict rules and regulations...I have seen people in trance but not at the SNU which is the main spiritualist church,,and i have seen people taken over by their guides and they talk in strange voices..but again not at the spiritualist church...their is another spiritualist movement called the christian spiritualists but they are a bit churchy and i dont go their and their is no way they do trance or anything whacky...you have to join the church to take part in private circles or development groups..but the evenings of clairvoyance they just pass the plate round and you give whatever...if they have special events like saturday nights evenings of clairvoyance that normally costs a pound or so..to pay for the medium that has travelled to the area..monday night is usually the best night in the midlands as its just clairvoyance..they tend to sing hymns on a sunday and just have about 30 minutes of clairvoyance...so i dont like sunday night services..they also have a day for healing which is free its tuesday where i am and anyone who is sick can go along and recieve free healing off trained to a high standard healers..you can also request a home visit or even a hospital visit from them and its all free....
