I ws chatting to one of my friends last night about her 12yr old daughter and her relationship with food / eating / self image etc etc. I have struggled with these things in the past (mainly bulimia) so i think she thought i could help. The problem is that I know nothing about teen girls (its 20yrs since i was one!) so I was wondering, can anyone recommend any good books that might help in this sort of situation. I was even thinking along the lines of some sort of nutrition based book to help her understand how/why her body needs a healthy diet. Maybe I am way off the mark but I hate to see both mother and daughter unhappy. Thanks in advance :o)

I know that there IS a book that's called something like "The Body Book" or "The Body Bible" (perhaps), which tells you all sorts of different things you're desperate to know when you're that age.
Like yourself, though, I suffered from bulimia for several years, and I knew all about healthy eating and what my body needed for me to survive... But I wasn't interested in the facts. So, I don't really know what to suggest. I hope she snaps out of it and starts eating healthily. Maybe she's being bullied in school? I know that was a large factor in why I stopped eating. x
