Get more sleep :-) Or do you mean there and then like when you're about to sneeze looking at a light will stop you.
yawning is a reflex because your body has not taken in enough oxygen. If you drink some water and take periodic deep breaths this may help in the short term, but ultimately the fitter you are and getting enough sleep is the only way to stop it.
I always stick my finger in my husband's mouth when he's about to yawn - stops him dead in his tracks (and frustrates the hell out of him!!)
'Yawn'
You will find also it is infectious - not literally of course! So don't hang out with other yawners. Psychologists say this - can't remember what its called but when people are in a group they copy each others behaviour and body language. Its a sought of reassurance.
I used to yawn all the time, even when I wasnt tired. It really got on my nerves but since cutting down on the amount of sugar, white flour & alcohol in my diet, and cutting out caffeine I yawn much less! Apparently excessive yawning is a symptom of hypoglycemia.
I don't yawn a lot when I am at home in the evening, but when I go out for a meal with friends, I seem to yawn from about 10.30 onwards and yet I don't feel tired. Why?
