I was thinking about taking my girlfriend on a weekend away, the weekend after Valentines. Does anybody know anywhere to go that's good? Blackpool for instance or the lake district? thanks in advance.

I have nothing against Blackpool I go there myself at times but for a romantic weekend i personally would prefer the Lake District.Hope you have a nice weekend where ever you choose.

To be honest I'd prefer the lake district too. But would you say it was okay for a 18 and 17 year old couple? I mean were not going for an alcohol feulled weekend, but a nice one because we've just got over a serious arguement and decided this would be good for us.

Why dont you try Whitby? its a gorgeous place and their are a few nice pubs. There are also plenty of nice B & B's
I live near to the lake district and to be perfectly honest i would say as a young couple, don't go there unless you are really into sightseeing and museums. Don't get me wrong there are some really nice hotels in the lake district but it is usually the older generation that tend to enjoy it..
Well you would have to think what you both like.Lake District would be a quiet and relaxing weekend and remember it is still winter where as if you like a lot of things going on and you are just going for a weekend and you are not going on a booze weekend then Blackpool. You can spend quite a bit of time at the tower where there is lots to see.

Okay youve twisted my arm, we'll go to blackpool. Does anyone know of any decent B&B's?

Don't know if you've made up your mind, but my favourite place in Britain is Stratford-Upon-Avon - perfect if you like theatre / sightseeing etc. It's a beautiful town, good for shopping, and if you go take a boat trip on the river. Closest thing to heaven on earth!

Wherever you go, your girlfriend is a lucky girl!

I've always wanted to go to the lake district and never made it...

However, I think it depends very much on what you two like doing with your time.

I think my perfect weekend would be somewhere in Cornwall by the sea. (And visit a Cider Farm...) That is the most beautiful part of England I have seen so far.

EDINBURGH - great scene and cheap too!
