Doxycycline is used for certain areas where there is resistance to other anti-malarial drugs. It can cause heartburn if not washed down with lots of water, and, as it is an antibiotic, it may cause diarrhoea and/or thrush in susceptible people. Rarely, it sensitises the skin to the sun, so use a good sun cream. You can find out more on www.masta.org/antimalarial/index/html#Doxycycline.
