I had an ultrasound last week of elbows and hips. Elbows I understand, but can someone explain what this means - it’s the definition of what is or isn’t wrong with hips.
On the right the gluteal tendons are heterogenous with loss of fibrillation pattern & intrasubstance hypoecjoic foci underlying in keeping with tendinopathy.
The trochanteric bursa is thickened with increased fluid in keeping with tendinopathy.
On the left there is cortical irregularity at the gluteal insertion, gluteal tendons are thickened, heterogeneous with intrasubstance hypoecjoic foci in keeping with tendinopathy & associated degenerative tears.

Quick question smow, have you flexible joints, ie elbows that turn too far, ankles that give way, knees that bend backwards, etc.

Am in pain yes, sometimes I cry with it and I know that sounds childish.
Question Author
No, I don’t think my joints turn too far x
Presumably this means it's under investigation. I hope they can sort it out for you Smow.
It does sound as if you need a classical scholar to translate that from the Latin. Sorry I can't help, I hope someone can.
I just wondered if you could be hypermobile. Basically because of the tendon problems and tears.

I have no follow up letter/app, nothing, just this diagnosis letter, which isn’t much help!!
Question Author
It seems to be more obvious since I’ve lost weight (I’ve gone from 13st10 to 9st 12). The pain seems to be worse I mean.
Trouble with the tendons by the sound of it. Sorry you're in constant pain. Hope they can make it better for you, Smow. x

Smow, the radiological diagnosis is tendinopathy.

Question Author
Thanks calmck x
I would be getting straight onto the phone to either my GP or my consultant and asking for an explanation.
You should not have to ask what something means or what the treatment is from non medically trained persons.
It’s just clarifying where you have tendinopathy. https://www.healthline.com/

It’s a very common, painful condition
