Those vaccinated can still catch the virus but the symptoms may be a lot milder or asymptomatic. They can therefore still pass it on to others who are not vaccinated.
That's why social distancing will still need to be maintained for a while yet.
You can also pick it up on your skin and mucous membranes and carry it around. It will be less likely to take hold but will be quite happy to go for a ride on you and transfer to someone else.
Yes, theres still a risk for the reasons given by woofgang and tigerblue. The scientists say its too early to tell as this was'nt tested as part of vaccinne trials- but personally am pretty confident from what a heard
and thought through that the risk of a vaccinnated person infecting someone will be far lower (maybe 75 pecent lower) than for an unvaccinnated person. Hope so
Yes woofgang. My link was really just in response to jennyjoans posts //Another colleague has received the vaccination and she too has tested positive too. So what now?//
Maybe best for her to ask her GP or self isolate and then get retested in 10-14 days? Woofgang knows more than me (and most) on this
The vaccine isn't 100% effective. You can still catch covid if you have been vaccinated. The efficacy figure (70-95%) means 5-30% may still catch the disease and have symptoms.
JJ As I understand it, the contact/quarantine/self isolate rules apply to everybody whether vaccinated or not; as do the hands face space and lockdown rules.
