Live in an artist’s studio. Ans “On the air” -which is live but where does the artist’s studio fit in?
Zoë doesn’t have quite such a dotty appearance. Ans Umlaut . First one in but still can’t parse. (The quite is in italics but I don’t understand why ).
Change tack about food, say, getting round to this? Ans Vegeburger.
Not paying for basic computer programming. Ans default.
If it’s returned , for instance, woman harbouring desire finally gets embraced Ans Glad eye.
Get out or staying in . Ans Alight . I can’t see the staying in part.
Very reliable pet food. Ans Hot dog. I can’t find any support for hot =very reliable.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I think "Live in an artist's studio" is simply a cryptic definition; you're supposed to read it as "dwell in a room where someone paints" but actually it means "being broadcast now in e.g. a musician's broadcasting studio"

I agree with others' parsings of the rest, though I'm not convinced hot is an accurate synonym for reliable.
Which year were these from? If it weren't for the computer reference I'd have thought they were pre-1970!

According to the blurb on Amazon, the puzzles are chosen by former Times Crossword editors and taken from previously published titles. That suggests some of the puzzles will be older ones, which were somewhat different in style to those we get today. If you're doing well on the daily puzzles you have no need to worry about your solving ability!
