Excellent stuff for relieving agonising stomach cramps. Even though I very rarely use it these days I wouldn't be without a packet in the house.
IBS? what is it, what causes it?.........no I don't suffer from it.
Buscopan affects people with IBS different......some like jackdaw thinks it is marvelous, others describe the effects as ..USELESS.
It is a matter of trial.......try it.
I think it says on the packet / info leaflet - not to take unless you have been diagnosed with IBS .

However I have taken it in the past for stomach pain ( I have not been diagnosed with IBS ) and it eased the pain considerably within the hour
I may as well have ate Smarties.

Thank you all for replies. I've taken 2 so far and a little better but not great. I will take them for a few more days and let you know.
I can't remember its pharmaceutical name but it is a muscle relaxant. I don't have IBS but on a few occasions in the past I've had a bowel obstruction, in my case usually undigested peanuts, whereby waste products trying to pass through the small intestine meet an obstacle and can't go any further. The muscles try to force through, the resultant pain has to be experienced before being described. Many years ago my parents called out the doctor late at night as I was screaming in agony. He gave me an injection of Buscopan and instant relief. A good dump in the morning settled the matter. Not sure about IBS as I have never suffered from it but as far as stomach cramps go it is a very effective remedy.
yes, I use it as an instant help, but if I am having a bout then I go from that to Colofac and/or Colpermin
