Amazing how many people with delicate stomachs visit Body and Soul posts.

infection for one ...hernia ? compromising the stomach lining...?? I am no medic but I can see it is neither a natural nor healthy process
there is only one way to lose weight..eat less..move more....not rocket science
Ric.ror

Infection and possibly ulceration at the gastrostomy (Opening site)....perforation of bowel during the procedure......vitamin deficiencies due to malabsorption from removal of 30% of stomach contents. .......those are the ones that come to mind Ric ror.

To be fair, these "boys" are no fools and they might say, quite rightly, that the complications are less than those with conventional barometric surgery.

It would be like having a permanent Colostomy......
Also, once you have sucked out a third of your stomach contents, I wonder if there is a way to prevent you sucking out even more, maybe a timer on the device.
horrific nasty nasty..run a mile !
Just think ..
When you go out for an .."All you can eat" .. meal. All the gorgers can gather in a 'Pump' room where they can empty their guts together before returning to the table for another helping !
alava....pass the brain bleach !
Could this procedure be of use for alcoholics?
Drink what you can then remove the excess before it takes effect.
take away the wallet would be more effective Oz !

Oh your all laughing now - but you wait until I get it done and am a shadow of my fuller self - you'll all be green with envy

As for infections - that's what antibiotics are for isn't it and I've been so careful not to have any of those for at least 5 years so I won't be immune ;-))
you may well go a strange colour of green before we do !
I do hope it works for you Ric.ror.

I also hope you have researched and tried less invasive methods.

Good luck what ever path you choose.

I'm giving you best answer for a while Murraymints - even though I think your laughing at me ;-))
Question Author
1ozzy - who invasive can it be - it takes 15 minutes
Thanks for the good wishes - I will give you best answer this afternoon ;-))
ric..not laughing..concerned that you would even contemplate this....come to me and I will lock you in my (verynice) shed...I will have you whittled down as I drop in supplies from the roof....you can get WIFI though so you'll be quite comfortable
Question Author
How posh are you Murray with WIFI in the shed ;-))
well it is in the house..but reaches the shed !! there will be a wee mini bar..will not deprive you of a nice wee chablis or two !!
It's WI Fi Ric .. we have it in our bathroom, our shed, or downstars loo.
i've no doubt we will have it in our wheelie bin !
After the first vacuum I'd be put off eating for a very long time
