A Peaceful Hotel Abroad?

Can anyone please recommend a lovely (preferably modern) hotel abroad - Greek Islands or Canaries (but not Tenerife) There are lots of nice luxury ones but I'm having real difficulty in getting just what we want. We don't like daytime entertainment at all - lots of blaring out music across the pool which you can't block out when trying to read, entertainment reps trying to coax you off your sunbed to join in mindless games ...... although we don't mind the occasional evening show as long as it's not too noisy.

Has anyone ever been to a hotel like this? All we want is a peaceful, relaxing holiday after a horrible year. We usually go to apartments but this time I fancy a hotel - preferably half board so I don't have to cater for meals . Thanks for any suggestions :)

My step-dad and his wife always go to adults only all-inclusive places - he says they are excellent (not sure on price though).
problem is that a quiet hotel can be ruined by one stag party
How about a flat near the beach and eating lunch and dinner out.
Thomson holidays do the following ranges geared mainly to adults only
Sensatori
Couples
Gold
Platinum
A La Carte

We stayed at the Alexander the Great in Cyprus last year which was great, booked direct with hotel, they have an adults only area, you get to select your lounger from those available at the time and it is yours for the whole stay. We chose one round the adult only affinity pool.
Being Adults Only doesn't necessarily mean it'll be peaceful, I'd look for a quiet resort as most noisy peeps wouldn't go there. Thomson do a Small & Friendly range of accomodation.
I have stayed at the following place, in Sorrento on two previous occasions :::

Sorrento is romantic, with lots of things to do and see. This place is set just up from the main square, but far enough away not to be noisy. Sorrento is definitely not "all inclusive" territory, and wouldn't know a stag or hen party if it saw one ! It is certainly not the place that would attract the young and noisy.

This place has small wooden cabins, with verandahs, set in amongst the lemon trees, as well as the main hotel block. Great food ! I can thoroughly recommend it !
What's your budget a night, Ann?
136 euro a night at the moment, Italy - Sardinia?

Ann...I have just checked Thomson, and the place above is only £624 per person, B+B in September. Beware of July and August, as it can be fearsomely hot in the Bay of Naples !
and when do you want to go?

Thanks everyone -

DTC - We are looking for either April (Canaries but avoiding school hols) or May (Greek Islands) really don't want to spend more than £1800 - £2000 (or less) for 2 weeks hol for just us two.

Could go in a flat or apartment as usual and eat out thanks xstitch but this time wanted a bit of luxury and try a hotel.

Been to Sorrento thanks Mikey, liked Capri but not keen on Sorrento itself but lovely coastline.

Ubasses - May take a look at Cyprus again (been twice) have seen that hotel but not been inside.

PS The flight has to be from East Midlands airport.
Does it have to be a resort?

We stayed in a nice hotel in Spain 10 minutes walk from Gibraltar. Half the price of Gibraltar hotels. The rooms were lovely with a view of the Rock. Hotel had a swimming pool and we hardly seen any other guests. We went in May and it was 30+ everyday.

Thanks all for suggestions. Would really like Greek Islands in May or Lanzarote or Fuerteventura in April. x
