When you were a child did you yearn for something but never got it?
For me, it was a chopper bike. I so badly wanted one but it wasn't to be.

When I was 16 (1980) my mum said that we were getting a puppy. It was a GSD/Bulldog. As he grew a little we saw that he seemed to be growing bigger and bigger and bigger. His mum was a GSD but daddy turned out to be a Bullmastiff. He was loved by all.

Can't think of anything, tbph. My parents were not well off and paying for anything was a struggle for them. When we look back now on the presents we received we realise how lucky we were. Home-made, second-hand, whatever we were given, all were very well received. We still thank our parents for our upbringing - it never came gift-wrapped but has served me and my siblings well :)

These were always on display in the better class of toy shop but were prohibitively expensive in the 1950's. It had to be red one, of course !
I haven't thought about these for years until today, an I am pleasantly surprised to see that they still being made, and made out of metal not ruddy plastic. Actually, they seem much more affordable now, and I might actually get one some time next year, and relive my boyhood dream !
