We all have our view Granted, I have very strong views to 100% sure DNA Test for Murderers, please don't think that I dwell on this, I'm not, can I ask, If Capital Punishment was put to a vote, & not interfered with by the Idiots in the EU, what do you honestly think the out come would be?

It would be a 'No'.
It's more than 50 years since anyone was executed in the UK. Hanging has gone the way of the rack and the ducking stool. And good riddance to it.
If there ever was a vote on returning it I'd say a majority would be against.
DNA test for murderers?

Capital punishment was abolished here long before we joined the EU.
I would vote against reinstatement. I have no idea how others would vote.
against
Still a no.

Why should murderers get off so lightly, let them be locked up and suffer for life!
I would definitely vote no.
I think it would be a No but I would happily shoot Jihad John and his ilk if someone gave me a gun.

I think it would be rejected!
I have no fear fear of death, how would that deter me, now if I thought I was going to be locked up in prison for life, I would then kill myself!
Jihad John, Why kill him and make him a martyr, lock him up for life!!
The trouble with locking up Jihad John is that he is not going to reform. He will come out just as demonic and brainwashed as he was when he went in. The only way to deal with people like him is to wipe him out.
Lock him up for life with just water and a few crusts of bread to eat every day. No tele, radio or contact with visitors. Cruel but .....
237SJ, when I said "life" I meant life!
It would depend on how the question was put. A blanket death penalty for all murder I would vote No as I think most would, but a possible (judges discretion) death penalty for a minority of crimes, including Faith or Belief based Terrorist murders, Treason and serial murderers I would vote Yes
I understand that a lot of people are against the death penalty but what really gets my goat is why criminals don't serve the full term they were given.
If they murder someone and get life, then to me imo they should stay there until they die as in the case of Hindly and Brady.

I do believe Life should in NO DOUBT, DEFINATLY, MOST CERTENLY mean life, I can not understand this stupid law system that even allows the likes of the Scum that MURDERED Lee Rigby In Broad Daylight in view of the public, then have the fecking check to try for a appeal, this should never ever happen, they knew what they were doing, but too many "SEE GOD" when the see what's before them.
TWR - You have failed to understand the grounds on which Lee Rigby's killers appealed. They tried, and it was rejected. And quite rightly, too.

When CP was taken off the Statute Books, the public were led to believe that such cases as would formerly have resulted in a death sentence would, instead, result in a full-life tariff.

And that should have been the situation ever since in my opinion.

But I would vote "No" for a return to CP.
No.
I would prefer a whole of life prison sentence for murderers, rapists and child abusers, to capital punishment.
I agree with JTH.

They very fact they refer to 'life' sentences annoys the crap out of me. If it's 15 years (or whatever), at least call it 15 years. I realise it's not as snappy sounding a title as 'life', but at least it'd be accurate.
