My daughter (16) has recently (about a month ago) suffered with a large ovarian cyst that burst. She had hospital treatment and antibiotics to cover any possible infection. The pain improved but, in the last few days she has begun to feel dizzy once again and very tired with pain once again in her abdomen. Has anyone else suffered this and could she have another so soon or could it be the same one still healing?

No, I have never experienced an ovarian cyst rupture.

\\ She had hospital treatment\\

By this I assume that you mean conservative (non operative) treatment?

Her symptoms may be unrelated to her previous episode and as such I would make an appt to see her GP. However it is possible for the same cyst to be healing OR another cyst preparing to cause problems.
You daughter may need a scan to sort this out.
If the symptoms of abdominal pain, tiredness and dizziness have recurred she really needs to have a doctor put a hand on her abdomen and examine her.
She may also as sqad says need a repeat scan.

I would not wait for a routine appointment, but would seek medical advice now.
I had them at age 17, all 3 of my sisters have had them as well, two sisters had to have their ovaries removed eventually. They do often recur and can do so very quickly after removal of one.

Thank you for all your advice, the cyst had been mistaken for a possible appendicitis back in May this year and due to exams was left and her well being monitored by us and school, however the pain continued, worse each month. Doctors said they didn't know what it was and to do nothing! Ended up back at A and E who scanned and found the ruptured cyst. Think you're right, maybe we should go back to doctors for further assessment. I had heard that the contraceptive pill may help keep these cysts at bay, has anyone else heard of this?

Gynaecologists seem to have been "scratting" around with hormonal therapy and recurrent cysts, but my "informants" seem to suggest that there is little or no advantage.
Sqad - reassure his that your "informant" isn't Mrs Sqad.
