In view or my post regarding NHS111. Mic finishes his steroids tomorrow. 8 prednisolone (sp) per day for 5 days. He was also given Ant Bi's for 7 days ending Sunday. He is still wheezing. Should I get the GP out again tomorrow before the weekend shut down.

I think so too bednobs but wanted a professionals point of view. Can you have anothe course of streroids ?
yes I would get the GP out. Don't know about steroids but there are other treatments for a bad chest.
He may well be still wheezing, but is he better in himself?
If he is, then i would not not bother about getting the GP, but if his condition is exactly the same as it was when starting the treatment, then certainly get the GP to see him today.

it is your call.

Thanks Sqad. He is much better in himself so maybe I'll hold off for now.

Update.

Feeling uneasy about the weekend and NHS 111 I called the surgery and spoke to a doc. She came out to see Mic this morn and gave him more steroids and Anti-Bi's. She has certainly made me feel less uneasy. She also read the notes of the Monday visit and compared them to today. Much better today but not as yet back to normal. I realise we all need time off but I wish you could have an on call doc from your own practice on a weekend.
always best to go with your own instincts, you know the patient !
I agree, Jeza. It's mad that places like surgeries completely close and consultants are not available at hospitals at the weekend. I know there are the emergency services, but that's not always what you want.
And yes, I know they all need time off, but do they all have to have every weekend off?
Glad mic is feeling a little better.

Exactly what it was Anne....Instinct. On Monday the doc contemplated sending him to hospital, when I told her IMO he would go downhill fast if she did she trusted my judgement.

Clover, When Mic was admitted to hospital last year it was on a Friday. He didn't see anyone of importance until Monday afternoon. I truly believe it was during this time lapse that he had a further stroke.
Jeza, that's terrible. I really can't understand why doctors' time off can't be spread around more so there's always someone available. It can't be that hard to organise.
