Allergic To Holidays?

Not for the first time I'm heading off on holiday feeling very under the weather. I'm rarely affected by colds or bugs, but just as I wind down for a long awaited break I seem to catch a good 'un. Is this a coincidence or is there anything I can do to avoid it next year?

I'm packing at the moment and having to make room for eardrops, ibuprofen, kleenex, throat soothers and the like!

Thanks Murray. I'm so looking forward to it and only hope I'm blessed with the necessary energy levels for walking round Paris once I get there! Thankfully the weather is good in France at the moment and if need be we can enjoy picnics in the parks and plenty of people watching instead of queuing.

Thanks Whistonian, luckily we're going on the train and will take it easy.
Sorry Maydup, it's a bummer but I think it's quite a recognised occurrence, something to do with either increased or decreased stress as a holiday approches. It always happens to me and my partner too. Without fail I get ill every year a week before Xmas when I haven't done evrything! Hope you have a great time, once you're there the excitement should help you to feel better.
May be psychological, the excitement or whatever lowering your defenses or simply creating symptoms.

(Interestingly I'm wondering if I have caught something also, have been sneezing and on & off runny nose. And it's too late for pollen surely ?)

Have a nice time and take lots of hankies.
