I have had mine in for almost 4 weeks and they are poking out! When will they fall out?

don't dissolvable stiches dissolve rather than fall out?
Question Author
Apparently the part that's under the skin dissolves and then what's hanging out falls out?!?
I've only had them in my tongue (don't ask), but my Dad had some and in the end he had to get his practice nurse to take them out after 3 or 4 weeks.

We joked that he was just too tight to part with them. :-)
I've got some in my gum - one end is dangling out after two weeks and annoying me. So you are not alone.

You could get a wee pair of scissors and cut them flush with the skin?

The ones in my tongue fell out after about a day, but I may have "encouraged" them slightly...

how long will my stitches (sutures) take to dissolve ?
says they will loose most of their strength within 60 days.
You can soak them in warm water if possible and then gently try and pull them out with tweezers. If they dont come out easily just leave them a bit longer.

Ouch I don't fancy touching or pulling them! The nurse cut a few short but they just feel spikey! I feel like I have hundreds! Don't envy u having them in Ur mouth and gums!! How annoying!!!
I had some dissolvable ones in my nose (after septoplasty) that never dissolved, I had to get them removed by the practice nurse after a month, it hurt like hell because she had to cut with a scalpel and then pull like mad with tweezers, all done with no local anaesthetic :-/
Depends what type of "dissolvable"....absorbable is a better term.

May be up to 3 months before they are absorbed.

No big deal.

take them out yourself if you so choice.
i had a few stray stitches left behind quite a time after i had my stitches out of my hand when finger was amputated.
I finally gently pulled them out with tweezers. Didnt hurt one little bit, came out easily. (I also had skin grafts)

I don't fancy pulling them out, too sore and might end up pulling my nipple off and I don't want to interfere! Will give it a bit longer then go to surgeon
I had them once and was still pulling them out a year later. Luckily the area was completely numb (still is 15 years on actually).
