Im 16 and hes 26. He is my teacher. At first we didn't get along but now we are close. He has spent more than 100$ on me to attend a class he teaches. And we email each other almost daily. We trade secrets and he asks me about my life. One time he went on a teacher conference in Los Angeles and everyday he was gone he sent me at least one email. I remember one day while he was gone he didn't write me until 3am! He seems honestly interested. He's single and i really like him. How do i know if he likes me? I worry that hes just a really sweet guy and only cares for me as a student...please dont judge. I would never do anything to risk his career.

Perhaps he is genuine, perhaps he is just over friendly - either way it can go no where whilst he is your teacher .............and even the levels of emails would be deemed unprofessional by the authorities. Best to cool it I think, see what happened (if anything) once you have left school!

Rather as March-Hare says, the relationship may well be genuine, and feelings mutual. Alternatively he may just care for you as a student like you say, but that's not worth worrying about.

Either way, the law is clear, here as well as in the US: sexual relationships between teachers and their pupils are illegal as long as the pupil is under 18. In itself that is reason to be careful.

I wouldn't want to say that you should stop contacting him, but make sure that until you are 18 the emails go no further than they are at the moment. After that -- if he likes you and you like him and it works out for both of you, then why not? But if you would never do anything to risk his career, then I'd try to push this out of your mind as long as taking it further may well do just that.

He could find himself in very serious trouble if these daily emails ever come to the public eye (or to his bosses in the school). It's not appropriate for a teacher to trade secrets with a schoolgirl. This is going bad places. You need to recognise that you could get him into a lot of trouble - he should know better than to have got into this situation in the first place. It you really mean that you wouldn't risk his career, then tell him that this has to stop. NOW.

Yes, this is not right. He shouldn't be emailing you. Just because you like each other and there is a connection is irrelevant. He is your teacher and until he is not your teacher, you should have a normal teacher-student relationship. Put plainly, he is flattered by the attention of a young and pretty girl and you are flattered by the attention of a more mature man. He will be blamed for this, not you. So if you care about him and his career, stop emailing him. Tell him it is unprofessional of him and he could lose his job over it. Teaching is a position of trust. When you are 18, email all you like- you will be an adult (according to the law) and probably not at school anymore. If you still like each other in 2 years time, go for it. But not now.

what is the legal school elaving age in the US these days? if you live at home with your parents do they know he's carrying on this persoanl elevel of contact with you? has he done this before with oher girls your age?

I wasn't aware that any relationship between a pupil and a teacher is allowed, no matter the age. Maybe I'm wrong.
