,i have a vauxhall vectra sri 2003 2.2 petrol,i have several issues that have occured since the car has been standing 4 months and the battery died, fitted new battery and heres whats happens, car starts up first time drives fine, handbrake warning light is on when driving, the indicators dont work at all,the sidelights come on when you start the engine even with the switch to the "0" position they only go off when the key is taken out,the heater blower wont work, the remote locking wont work and the rear doors are shut and wont open no matter what i do even from the inside etc,the key just opens the drivers door and locks the drivers door, turning the lights to the on position does not illuminate the dash clocks, the boot wont open either, also the handbrake warning light stays on..interior lights dont work...hazard switch wont work...ive googled for a few days and read up on something called canbus communication breakdown etc....i really dont know where to start.....elec windows work, passenger door opens, fuel gauge and trip computer work, wipers work, horn works,it has an aftermarket sony cd player in works

http://www.vauxhallownersnetwork.co try here...and its in the electrical forum section
Question Author
all these have occured as the car was sat for 6 months
I've put an answer on you other thread.
That's par for the course of Vectra ownership. My first car was a Vauxhall Viva and I've had Vauxhalls or Opels ever since but after my experiences with my current car, a 2006 Vectra, never again. I've saved up and after Christmas it'll be a Volvo V70, Merc E class or BMW 5-Series.

car is booked in for saturday as im in no rush ....found it seems someone else with similar issues today

http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056815727

now is it possible that the module behind the glove box has got wet during it standing at the early part of this year when we had heavy snow/rain/low temperatures and so on...ive heard of passenger side floors of these vectras getting damp due to rain seeping in when the drain hole gets blocked ...which module is this, there is a fuse box as you open the passenger door at the end of the dash and so on...is it behing there or glovebox and what does it look like?
Question Author
it seems replacing this fixed most of his problems?...indicators,central locking and so on...does this module control any of the other issures im having?
spikeybush - can you tell me more about your Vectra C probs ( maybe on another thread) - I have a 2006 vectra c & couldnt be happier - i have had it for almost 5 years and reluctant to change it because nowt going wrong - just interested.
Question Author
the above is the exact one on ebay can i simply change these over and try see if it works...plug and play etc or does it have to be programmed?
Question Author
also found a list of what the bcm controls:

Power Locks
Cruise Control
Power Windows
Automatic Headlamps
Anti-Theft System (VATS/Passlock)
Door lock out protection
Courtesy Lights
Interior light Dimming
Remote Start (If equipped)
RAP (Retained Aux Power)
Daytime Running Lamps
Turn Signals
Hazard Lights
Factory Alarm
Windshield Wipers

id say most of my problems are in that list which is now leaning me towards what is my problem...hazrads,indicators,lights..remote locking......thought id do as much digging as possible as it may help others...but i think im getting close to the answer now...
It may need programming to your car using TEC2, not 100% sure though, You could phone a Vauxhall main deals and ask them if it will need to be programmed though.
Question Author
if it does will i need a security code from vauxhall...i have a keycode card which has a code on it and says keep in a safe place etc?
No it shouldn't do, the TEC2 computer will match the new comfort control module to your car.
Question Author
will the new bcm fix the remote locking?...as all the problems including that point to the bcm does this control it?
Question Author
right folks, has mobile mechanic out today...bcm module is dead,it couldnt even read it,engine management fine,no communication fron bcm at all,i asked if i can buy a second had one he said no,it has to be new from vauxhall i find this untrue,as ive read many forums where they have had second hand ones paired up etc.....???
Yes anthony a second hand one can be paired up, but it does have to be done using TEC2 all Vauxhall maindealers will have this softwear also some auto electricians. I doubt that your mobile mechanic has it, thats why he told you it has to be brand new from Vauxhall.
Question Author
well everyone i hope people who have issues that i had read this thread, had a second hand bcm module re programmed to my vectra today, all issues fixed, except heater blowers not working, which i suspect resistor pack...turned out the bcm was toast, the tech 2 could not even read the bcm which then made it clear, all second hand bcm modules have to be tech 2 rest from their original car before attempting to programme to the new car...£120 all in wasnt bad....as i was told it had to go to vauxhall which would of cost £775...thanks for all replies and messages hope this helps for future problems....
