Self confidence and esteem

For a long time I have been diagnosed with aspergers syndrome which firstly holds me back with the problem I'm having. I have always thought this but has came more to light recently.

How do I inspire those around me, basically how do I stop being 'scared' of others? I don't think I have much confidence and I think it comes across. I want to actually talk to people, but I worry all the time and basically I never do it.

What can I do to change? I'm starting at the gym and I've starting changing my dress sense which I have been told will help with confidence.

I'd be grateful for suggestions

Difficult one this nick, I have always been a bit of a scaredy cat underneath. When I got promotion at my job I had to speak out to the bosses and staff, generally get them to accept me. I thought, shoulders back, you are just as good if not better than they are, and once I got used to the feeling of being one of the team and accepted I was fine. Don't try too hard to impress just begin by passing the time of day with people, Gym work will help you build confidence in the way you look and feel, and so too will making changes to your style. Good luck
I totally empathise with you on this, my teen daughter has similar problems, it's very sad to see and I worry how it will affect her adult life.

YOu could try speaking to your GP who may be able to recommend some confidence building / assertivness course; there are many on the internet, but do be wary as a lot of them could well be a load of rubbish.

Educate yourself with a hobby, reading and such - it will give you something to talk about and people will enjoy listening to you if you know what you are talking about.

Good luck x
