allergic reaction??

last night when i was up feeding the baby i caME out in a raised red itchy hot rash on the insides of my forearms, inside of elbows, palms and chest/neck. They came up really quickly, but i went back to bed and when i woke this am they were gone. I only took my normal medication before bed (warfarin, azathioprine and prednisolone) and none of them were new packets. Is it possible to be allergic to paint fumes? i fed her in a room we are currently having decorated, although the last coat went on on thursday morning, and you can't really smell any fumes, but it's the only thing i can think of. Any other ideas? (baby, by the way seemed completely unaffected)
I have bought some piriton in case it happens again

When my eldest was a few weeks old I came out in nettle rash on my arms and legs for a few nights (only at night and it had always gone by morning). I never got to the bottom of it and put it down to stress as he was not easy to feed and I was having problems. Can you try another room just in case and just see what happens. I can't offer any other practical suggestions I'm afraid.
Might be a mild reaction to whatever washing powder was used to wash the baby's clothes - especially if the clothes are unwashed new or inherited.
i was going to say heat rash?
Was this a one off or have you experienced this before?

Oxytocin is a hormone which regulates the production of breast milk and it is not uncommon (apparently) for mothers during breast feeding to react to this hormone by producing an itchy rash during feeding.

one off. Am not breastfeeding :)
LOL.......perhaps I was fantasising............again.

Sorry....wrong end of the stick.
Had you eaten any strawberries? Strawberries do that to me sometimes. I always have antihistamines in the house, just in case.
the location of the rash suggests it may be a reaction to what phoebe was wearing or wrapped in ? was she in a new ourfit ?

thanks all, i always wash her new clothes in the washing powder we always use, so they are all in that powder. I had a faint itch on my palms last night when i got up to feed her but nothing like the previous night.
sqad - only you could turn breast feeding into something mucky :)
