prolapsed womb

My 81 year old mum told me yesterday she has a prolapsed womb and has had it for a long time but didnt do anything about it, any way she has now. She has to go to hospital on the 1st of May for a consultation. What is the most likely course of treatment ? Thanks.

Hi Ann86 she has tissue protruding quite a lot she says.
It depends how bad the prolapse is, some times they fit rings which hold everything up, other than that it will be a hysterectomy.
my aunt is 84 and has just had a procedure for the same thing - she had a ring fitted and had had it for donkeys years too - she was back to her old self in no time at all - it was done vaginally

Hi just an update for everyone who gave me advice. Been to hospital with my mum today and they suggested a hysterectomy. My mum said she didnt want to have an operation so had a ring fitted to see how that works. Thanks for your help. Jasmin
