Errr exercise burns calories, doesn't matter what form they come in.
They eat those meals to support their exercise regime so that they can get bigger.
Why would they want to lose weight they are 'body building' after all !
You'd want to lose weight when you are cutting prior to a competition or trying to reduce fat to gain definition.
They eat carbs to provide fuel for their workout.

Then, afterwards, they eat protein to provide the "building blocks" for new muscle.

In the evening, when they finish working out, they stop eating carbs, because they won't burn them off.

This is a simplified explanation.

If you want to see how much carbs are needed for energy, Google how much pasta and eggs a Tour de France cyclist eats for breakfast. You will not believe it.
It is necessary to eat carbs prior to doing your bodybuilding workouts to make sure your body absorbs enough fuel when you do your workouts. It is best to eat a pre-workout meal at least two hours before you start your routine to ensure the body metabolizes the food so you have more energy and more energy means you do more reps. The best type of carbs would be the slow to moderate digestion so you don't put on weight. It also best to take your meals with pre-workout supplements like Cellucor C4 to ensure you are really ready and "in the zone" so to speak.
