Has anyone ever used any of his hypnosis tapes and do they work ?

I used the one to help you give up smoking, as did my wife a few years ago.

Did they work?

I'm on 60 a day, and she's on 20, so I'd say not.

Hypnosis is no panacea. They can help but you have to be determined to do your bit too: it won't compensate.

I met a friend for lunch today and she has just purchased a Paul McKenna tape and book on confidence. I was just concerned at how safe is hypnosing a person by a dvd.

Has to be pretty safe as otherwise he'd be defending himself in court against thousands of actions wouldn't he ?

Ultimately only you have control over your mind so any hypnotist, whether present or via the proxy of a tape can only made suggestions. You hypnotise yourself (or not as the case may be). Then the suggestions are either useful (you can listen to them beforehand if concerned) or not. IMO worst comes to worst you get so relaxed you go to sleep and miss Eastenders.

But if your friend is worried they probably won't work anyway since you need to be relaxed to get into a susceptible frame of mind.

I've tried other tapes in the distant past, and my sister is trained and practices hypnotherapy. I've thought about getting some of Paul's merchandise but not bothered yet.

There's no risk in any hypnosis material for sale, a trance will wear off just like waking up normally, and they couldn't let anything dubious onto the market or the trouble would be enormous for the creator.

I've used the confidence one for a while in the past and certainly felt myself becoming far more relaxed during the tape. I didn't really need more confidence but wanted to experience Paul McKenna myself and as I didn't smoke or have any other particular problems on the menu I bought that as it can help everyone.
