I am 5 ft 3 inches tall and weight seven and a half stones.  Can anyone tell me if I am in the low or middle section of the BMI weight/height chart?

You are in the "normal" category---just! Bordering on being underweight. Don't get any thinner!

Many thanks for that!  I've been struggling to get into the normal category.

To work out your BMI, divide your weight (58kg) by your height (1.58m) squared.

1.58x1.58 = 2.49

58 divided by 2.49 gives you a BMI of 23.

The ideal BMI is between 20 and 25 so I would say your BMI is perfect.

seven and a half stone is 105 pounds. This is only 47.73 kilos. Divided by 2.56 is 18.64

This is pretty thin, tetherend. I was this height and weight at 12 years old, before puberty.

It's OK so long as you aren't feeling tired, weak or hungry(!)

Not sure how old you are, but if and when you think of having children, you should gain weight first as BMI under 20 can affect your baby's growth.

Oh, may have misunderstood, are you trying to gain weight?

I'm still BMI 19.5 at 38 years old and it can be an effort to keep it up sometimes.

Many thanks everyone for your answers.  I had an op in Harefield Hospital in February and my weight went down to 6stones and 10 lbs.  (I was 8 stones)  I feel great to have put on a bit of weight now, and thanks to your answers, feel much better to know that I'm a normal BMI now.  I'm already a Mum and am getting back to be fighting fit!  It's really great to have all these very kind answers.  Thanks everyone again.

I got the formula for calculating BMI right but my conversions of your weight & height were wrong. Sorry. (I know why I picked this name for myself!!!)
