This has come up before but a couple of weeks ago nearly I had this form of hypnotherapy and so far it seems to be working. I can't eat big meals any more...I've tried but was sick..

I know consciously I haven't had a gastric band but my unconscious is obviously of a different opinion.... its tied in with body image and work on personal relationships with food but I know one or two on here were curious a while back so I thought I'd share

This is really interesting. I've always been unsure of hypnotheraphy, but it's obviously working for you.
Whats been the results, weight loss wise?

about 7 pound so far but its a whole lot more about having some control over food... no forbidden foods if you want cake and chocolate thats fine if you are genuinely hungry but you are also 'guided' to want healthier choices and smaller portions...to take time over food savouring it...and only having as much as you need for fuel basi8cally eating like a slim person....
I am with flip, have always been a bit frightened of hypnotherapy. I don't think I am a person who could be hypnotised, I would fight it to much.

Sounds like it has worked for you Rowan, well done. xx
Wow! That is really quite amazing. See, I tend to overeat/binge, but then don't eat for a few days to compensate. It's a really bad habit, I've got into.
I'm glad you've had a positive outcome Rowan. It didn't work for me but I did enjoy meeting the hypnotherapist (he's a retired Chief Inspector and a very nice man too).
Mrs C. did he hypnotise you or interrogate you ? hahaha (retired Chief Inspector........<<<I'll get my coat>>>>
Mrs C, have you seen those "portion" plates you can get? Completely different, but they are supposedly quite good.

I serve my food on a small side plate and have a very small bowl for soups and puddings I also try to make each meal last at least 20 mins putting my knife/fork etc down between each mouthful

I might need a top up session in a few months. Its not a matter of fighting it its just relaxing while someone speaks not like the sort of showbiz hypnotism at all.
L-o-l Den, it was an offer off Groupon, I've always been doubtful about hypnotherapy/hypnosis but decided I'd give it a go. I was worried that I actually would 'go under' and blurt out summat like 'you're a con-man'. Fortunately it didn't happen. :o)

Flip, I've never heard of those plates but the chap did recommend I start eating meals off a side-plate.
Hypnotherapy - if delivered by a qualified practitioner - is nothing to be afraid of, it's a therapy which leaves you in control and left me wanting to get on with the matter which was troubling me. It bears no resemblance to stage hypnotism, which confuses some people.

I asked my therapist once what would happen if the fire alarm rang when I was "under" and he reminded me that I knew how quickly he "woke" me at the end of each session, I would just get up and walk out.

There is no sensation of being someone else or not knowing what you are doing - at all times I knew where I was, who he was, it just felt like deep relaxedness.

You have to want to do it - resisting the relaxation makes it almost impossible for you to "go under", though.

mine was groupon too... lady I saw was lovely and in the first phase did some work on how I felt about my body etc...That alone was worth the money even if I didn't lose an ounce
Who's Den?
I recently had some massage done by a therapist who also does hypnotherapy - she did have a voice that you listened to and when she was doing the massage on me, I did feel kinda relaxed, but it didn't last, as I don't stop rabbiting...(:o((

Mrs C. I know what you mean about blurting stuff out, when I had a sedation at the dentist, I arrived home with a bag full of teeth, yuk, what the bloody hell has happened here. When I rang the dentist surgery, they said I kept shouting, 'I want to take some teeth home'............so they obliged.. (:o/
How much did it cost?
Meee, Flip....(:o)
I found the overall experience a positive one - quite enjoyed it - but I still eat far too much. No way do I feel full after a small plateful. I love my food, that's the problem.
My friend had a serious gynae op a few years back - the surgeon told her afterwards that she kept flinging her arms about, she thought she was Carmen Miranda.... anaesthesia's never had that effect on me!

Btw rowan - well done, indeed.
Oh, hello! :-)

I was going to ask the same, how much did it cost and how much will the 'top ups' be?
Can't remember what I paid but I'll have a look at my Groupon account...I'm just about to have dinner though, so bear with me. (Or should that be bare?)

Oh well, who cares. :o)
I paid £64 for four sessions. Don't know how much the top-ups would be but I'm guessing quite expensive.
