It's official /// More than half believe homosexual marriages should not be allowed and two thirds think the adoption of children by same-sex couples should not have become legal nine years ago.///

/// the ONS findings show many Britons still cling to conservative values ///

Er, excuse me but "clinging to conservative values" ?????

I don't care, as long as the couple are happy, what does it matter. A good friend entered into a civil partnership and they are blissfully happy
Old people are living longer.
Same thing AOG ... same thing.
what has being old got to do with it. Aren't there any young conservatives, labour, lib dems who may also feel this way.
I don't care what other people do - as long as they pull their weight in life, are good to cats and dogs (and children), don't steal, hurt, kill and all the other anti-social things that happen in life.

I can't expect other people to live their lives using my set of values or according to my sexual orientation. I am still hanging on for George Clooney.
wolf, hands off he's mine.
I was answering the OP header. In my experience you're more likely to find the older generation that are anti homosexuals.
Who do they ask about it, I mean half of the population are asked if they are for or against gay marriages, who are they. I've never been asked, I'm sure my husband hasn't been asked and none of my family and friends have mentioned being asked, so where do they come up with half the population.
I think they have a little vote number in the paper. So really it means half the daily mail readers.
Oooo ....... George Clooney ........

err ... what? ... err .... sorry.....

If they want to be married, why not? Their marriage doesn't affect anyone else, does it?

Not the same thing Andy, same subject matter maybe, but a recent announced slant on it.

Which is perfectly correct to post, taking into consideration the recent answers on the subject by fellow ABers.

This news goes to highlight the fact, that it would appear that some ABers do not represent the majority of the nation's feelings on the subject.
I couldn't give a stuff whether it is allowed.

I just don't want to be forced to see two men snogging.

They can do whatever they like in private as far as I am concerned.
Why do you keep dragging this up? Surely everyone voiced their opinions on the other post. I doubt some crap survery is going to make anyone think differently.
>I just don't want to be forced to see two men snogging.

So you wouldn't want to see a heterosexual couple snogging, either? Or a lesbian couple?

Also, when would you ever be in a situation where you were "forced" into seeing this?
Like when Eastenders is on.
I tend to agree with the "older" comment.

The only people I can think of (who I know) would be against this, are older family members. The younger generation have been brought up in a society where it's acceptable to be gay and proud.
I really don't see the issue here. Why does it bother some people *so* much that a same-sex couple would choose to marry and commit the rest of their lives to one another?
You can actually only say AOG that half the people POLLED are against same sex marriages, NOT half the population, and as someone pointed out that's probably half the Daily Wail readers, so draw your own conclusions there mate.
Lol. You sound like my Dad... the older generation :P

He actually switches it over, or goes out of the room, when Christian and Syed are affectionate. It's daft!
my mum is 73 and has said for many years that gay marriages should have been allowed years ago.

<<I mean half of the population are asked if they are for or against gay marriages, who are they.>>

they didn't ask half the population - it doesn't say that.

they asked a representative sample which (if done properly) is a statistically significant size and can be extrapolated to represent the larger group.

In this case 45% of the sample expressed these views.
